I know the red bumps your talking about, i use4d to suffer the same problem. I tried waxing and oh my god, i will never go there again lol. Cream do tend to irritate so avoid them. Are you shaving against the grain? I still shave but i go in the direction the hair is growing as it avoids irritation and it keeps it really neat. Or you could just go al la naturale lol
